This has been a frustrating last few weeks. I thought I was doing so well the first three rounds. I was good with everyone, threw competitions left and right, and I thought everybody felt they were tight with me. It all started to fall apart with the Will vote. I got what I wanted but based on his reaction, Will wanted to work with me. And I ended up letting go of Marvin the next round anyway.
I'm in an okay spot, but I'm not in a great one. I know that. There are a lot of people who I trust and who I know I'm good with, but there's also a lot of people who I don't trust at all. I don't think I'm their primary targets, but I know I'm on their radar. I think Jen and Austin would be targets ahead of me, and I do have my veto. The only one I told was Austin and I believe him when he's said he hasn't told anyone. Nobody has asked me what my prize was though, which is weird. Did they seriously forget? How could anyone forget me getting a special prize that nobody knows what it is now that we're in the final 8?
Earlier I was saying that I saw the dynamics becoming Jen/Mark/Cody/Louise/Sarah vs Marvin/David/Austin with me in the middle. That was partially correct, except not really. Right now, I see the sides as Jen/David/Austin/me vs Mark/Cody/Louise and Sarah has connections with both sides I think? The sides are far from tight, however. Jen and David are not close and will probably go after each other. Austin is mad at Sarah because she sold his fake alliance out to Mark. Sarah and Jen sold each other out to David. Louise and Mark are not close. Well, that's what they're saying. I wouldn't rule out them being secretly close, but Mark is not exactly the most subtle player, so I would be really surprised. Basically, everything is a mess.
The last round, I really wanted to keep Marvin. I'm sure I would have had the votes to send Mark home, as long as I made sure David distrusted him. I think I would have had the votes to send home Cody too. Even Louise would have been a good outcome. But Sarah was talking about possibly backdooring David and then settled on Jen once she volunteered. I'm a little mad at myself. If I had told Sarah about Cody's alliance with me/Mark/Jen and made Sarah hold off until her and David could be online and got him to tell her about the Mark/Cody/David alliance, I think I could have gotten Cody up and out if Sarah suddenly heard that if Marvin went out, she was the only one not allied with Cody.
But I decided not to do it. Sarah has a big mouth, so she could have easily told Mark and Cody that I ratted out the alliance to her. She already told Mark that Jen volunteered when she promised Jen she wouldn't tell anyone, and she told Mark about the rumored alliance with him, Cody and Austin. Sarah has not been around much and David has been on vacation so getting them to talk wouldn't have been easy anyway. It was too much risk for too little reward for me to sell out the alliance.
The other option to keep Marvin safe would have been using my POV on him. A part of me really wanted to do it. He's been a very loyal ally. However, it would also cause chaos. Sarah would be mad at me for saving her target and making her get blood on her hands. Jen would be mad at me because now she's trapped on the block and she might be going home. Mark and Cody would be mad at me for saving Marvin. I feel like Sarah would put up David as the replacement, and losing either Jen or David would be bad for my game. And then after that, everybody would see me as too close to Marvin, I would probably be getting nominated, and I wouldn't have a veto. No thank you.
I had to vote to send Marvin home. I toyed with the idea of doing a hinky vote, but I figured everyone would suspect me anyway, and there's no point in hinky voting if the blame is going to fall on me. With all votes being revealed, I'm very happy I voted for Marvin. I'm upset Marvin is out because he would be loyal to me, but with me letting him go, hopefully that makes the other players trust me more.
Cast rundown as always, in order of how much I want them around:
Austin: Austin has become my #1 at this point, I guess. I really feel like I'm his #1 too. He's kept the secret of my POV as far as I know, and we need each other. I feel very good about him and I enjoy talking to him. It doesn't hurt that he's come close to winning some competitions. Hopefully that will soon translate into actual wins. He is going to become a target soon though, and I need to make sure he stays safe.
Predicted Nominations: Cody/Mark. He's thrown out the idea of putting up Sarah but I hope he would calm down if he actually won. Louise would also be far from safe under an Austin HOH.
Jen: Jen is great. I know she's a strong player and I can't go to the end with her, but as long as there are people in the game who I don't trust, I need her around. I see her and David going after each other, which isn't a bad thing longterm, but I need to keep them in check for now. If Jen won and used her HOH on David, that helps her game, but it doesn't help mine. One other thing is that she can be a little hotheaded. As soon as she heard Sarah told Mark she got nominated, she flipped out.
Predicted Nominations: Sarah/Cody
David: I'll be very happy when David comes back from his vacation. I need him around and I need him to win. He's in a very good spot at the moment, however, and it worries me. Jen would put him up and Sarah might, but he's got the trust of both sides. He's given lots of information to me and I value that, but he seems cool with working with Mark and Cody and that worries me. In a couple days, how did he go from this:
David (22:20:57): Ooooh be
David (22:21:00): He is sneaky
David (22:21:05): We should vote out Mark
David (22:21:18): He made an alliance with me and Cody during the vote
Porsche Briggs (22:21:30): LOL
David (22:21:28): SNEAKY BASTARD
to this:
Porsche Briggs (11:36:24): though I have no idea where Mark/Cody's loyalties are
David (11:36:27): I think they are most loyal to each other
David (11:36:33): But I feel good about them
Porsche Briggs (11:37:11): Even though they've made multiple alliances?
David (11:37:25): Let me rephrase
David (11:37:46): I feel good about them in the fact that they won't nominate us if they win
David (11:37:53): Plus, everyone has made multiple alliances lol
Like, something must have changed to make him feel more comfortable in that alliance. He's considering it as an option now, though luckily it sounds like he views it as secondary to me and Austin. I suspect he realizes that Mark/Cody trust him more than they trust me/Jen, which isn't that comforting.
Predicted Nominations: Louise/Jen. Maybe Sarah, depending on who he believes.
Sarah: I can't really figure out where Sarah stands in the game. I was worried when she won that I could be going up as a pawn but it doesn't sound like she even considered me. That makes me trust her more, though she is getting worse and worse at holding a conversation. Last night, I was talking to her and she just disappeared in the middle of the conversation even though she had a green circle next to her name. I asked her a little later what she won for her pandora's box. No answer. I haven't even heard anything from her today. Gamewise, I can not tell where she stands. I was worried she was in an excellent spot. She was getting out her top target, Austin and Jen trusted her and she was telling information to Mark too so I assumed he and Cody trusted her. She had a lot of connections and I didn't think anybody was going to target her.
After Mark told me Sarah told him Jen volunteered, I passed that information onto Jen and she got pissed. Then after I told Jen that Sarah told Mark that Jen told Sarah (lol) that Austin was in an alliance with Cody and Mark, she was done with Sarah and even talked about putting her up. It's the final 8 and we're stuck in a Telephone game. A very similar thing happened with Austin. And David doesn't trust her either. On one hand it's great since I was concerned about Sarah becoming a player that would be very hard to kill, but it also seems a little bit too easy. Idk, idk. The important thing, though, is that I can never tell where she stands. She put up Mark but then she told all this information to him and it doesn't sound like she's even on his radar, which is puzzling. She also has a reward from Pandora's Box and I have no idea what it is.
Mark: I gave Mark the David test today. This afternoon, I was talking to both Mark and David and Mark asked for my opinion on who the threats were. It made me very uneasy. I want Mark to think I trust him, but I also don't want to give him any ammunition against me. My solution was to tell Mark I thought David was a threat, and tell David what I was doing. Then all I had to do was sit back and wait and see if Mark said anything to David. The results?
Mark:
Mark Byron (16:01:34): I feel like we need to start shifting gears from nominating quiet people to nominating threats
Mark Byron (16:01:41): What do you think?
Porsche Briggs (16:03:37): yeah, I see your point. We're at the final 8 now
Porsche Briggs (16:03:57): but some of the stronger players in this game are on our side
Mark Byron (16:04:32): I feel like the only person left isn't necessarily strong is Louise
Mark Byron (16:05:04): I didn't think Sarah was strong, but then she won HOH and got a power
Porsche Briggs (16:05:36): Louise doesn't talk a lot of game at all
Porsche Briggs (16:05:46): I'm not totally sure where she stands, but I do think she's in good with Jen
Porsche Briggs (16:06:03): you know who is strong that we're not working with, though?
Porsche Briggs (16:06:06): David
Porsche Briggs (16:06:28): he's a veto beast
Mark Byron (16:07:41): I really don't understand why he tried so hard and all of those veto competitions to just not use the veto
Mark Byron (16:08:05): It's like, terrible big brother 101
Porsche Briggs (16:08:39): I don't get it either. I've been in like one veto competition
Porsche Briggs (16:08:54): but if it was week 1 and Kaitlin kept me off the block because I actually talked to her
Porsche Briggs (16:09:02): and I'm not close with either Amy or Clay
Porsche Briggs (16:09:05): I'm throwing
Mark Byron (16:09:49): Right. Now, I've only been in 2 of them
Porsche Briggs (16:10:12): and one of them you were on the block
Mark Byron (16:10:04): So I'm batting 50%
Mark Byron (16:10:15): The other I was trying, I just suck
Mark Byron (16:10:22): Lol
Mark Byron (16:10:42): A maze was the perfect challenge for me though
Porsche Briggs (16:11:15): I was happy not to do the maze. It would have just been embarrassing
Mark Byron (16:13:21): Haha awww
Mark Byron (16:13:28): Well win this one, OK?
Mark Byron (16:01:41): What do you think?
Porsche Briggs (16:03:37): yeah, I see your point. We're at the final 8 now

Mark Byron (16:13:28): Well win this one, OK?
David
Porsche Briggs (16:05:04): hmm, Mark is trying to get me to name threats we should start worrying about
Porsche Briggs (16:05:13): should I mention your name and see if he brings it up to you?
Porsche Briggs (16:05:15): lol
David (16:05:11): LOL
David (16:05:13): YES
David (16:05:19): Omg yes
David (16:05:31): He's terrible at keeping multiple conversations though
Porsche Briggs (16:06:30): DONE
David (16:06:40): Seriously though
David (16:06:55): It keeps us separate and we can see if he's going to spout off anything to me
Porsche Briggs (16:07:19): yeah, I think it's really smart
Porsche Briggs (16:07:26): it looks like I trust him enough to be open
Porsche Briggs (16:07:33): and whether he tells you or not
Porsche Briggs (16:07:35): it's interesting
David (16:10:13): He wants me to guess who you said lol
Porsche Briggs (16:10:47): what? Like, "Porsche said who she thinks was a threat. Guess who!?"
David (16:13:02): Literally that
Porsche Briggs (16:13:15): wtf
Porsche Briggs (16:13:31): he's told me you were dumb to try in the veto competitions early on
Porsche Briggs (16:13:33): lol
David (16:13:25): He said I got 6 guesses lol
David (16:13:33): Ironically
David (16:13:36): I WASN'T
Porsche Briggs (16:13:57): you were actually throwing?
David (16:13:57): No but I wasn't actively trying to win
Porsche Briggs (16:14:27): that's a little sad
Porsche Briggs (16:14:35): either everyone else was throwing or they just suck
David (16:14:50): Exactly, so it's not like I did it on purpose
Porsche Briggs (16:15:20): and then Clay posted that Sonic thing
Porsche Briggs (16:15:24): which still gives me nightmares
David (16:15:55): Hahaha
David (16:16:21): "Don't go telling everyone I said this but Porsche totally wants you gone"
Porsche Briggs (16:16:40): did he say that
Porsche Briggs (16:16:42): ...
David (16:17:37): Yup
Porsche Briggs (16:17:50): I'm not telling him anything else at all lol
David (16:17:45): Because I have too many veto wins
Porsche Briggs (16:18:02): HE INITIATED THE CONVERSATION ABOUT WHO OUR THREATS WERE
Porsche Briggs (16:18:09): what the hell Mark
David (16:18:17): I wish you could see my face trying not to laugh in the airport terminal
I think this was a really good idea to give Mark that little test. He definitely trusts David more than me, and while that's not really a surprise, it's good to know for sure. Hopefully he thinks that I trust him because I was open about seeing David as a threat and he thinks David trusts him because Mark passed the information on. I really want to confront him, but the connection between him and David is a good thing. He tells David information and David passes that information onto me. I also want David to trust me with info. I find it hilarious that Mark apparently has no idea that me and David are on good terms, and meanwhile we've been comparing notes on him all along. The one side effect is that I think this made David trust Mark more.Porsche Briggs (16:05:13): should I mention your name and see if he brings it up to you?
Porsche Briggs (16:05:15): lol
David (16:05:11): LOL
David (16:05:13): YES

Porsche Briggs (16:18:09): what the hell Mark
David (16:18:17): I wish you could see my face trying not to laugh in the airport terminal
David also shared some other things Mark said:
David (16:00:46): Mark says he wants Jen gone the most but after she's gone, he may come after you
Porsche Briggs (16:01:05): he said that?
David (16:01:05): Not explicitly
David (16:01:20): But he mentioned how he's scared of you and Austin, how he thinks you're a threat and how he doesn't trust you
David (16:01:29): So to me, that means he doesn't trust you lol
I really wanted to rank Mark lower, but the bottom three on this list are all people who I don't trust at all. It's very hard to choose between them. Of the three, though, Mark is the least dangerous. He tries to be sneaky, but his moves are very obvious and I see right through him. Just look at the conversation we had.
Mark: Targeting threats is a good idea. Who do you think the threats are? This is a confidential private conversation that is confidential
Porsche: Well, David is a threat because he's won a lot of veto competitions
Mark: That is true. David has won a lot of vetoes
Mark: These competitions are hard, huh?
Even if David hadn't tipped me off, I'd like to think I would realize something was off.
Predicted Nominations: Jen and Austin. Louise and I aren't far behind on his target list.
Louise: I have no idea what happened with my relationship with Louise. I adored her in the beginning of the game. She was even my favorite. But somewhere along the way, I lost her trust and I have no idea why. Before Marvin left, he shared this conversation with me:
Louise Cliffe 5:28 pm
sorry, i talked jen into voting will so that we can be the middlemen***
because now no one trusts Porsche or austin
cody's being all like "if they want marvin safe then i'll keep him safe too by nominating them"
so we're in beyond a good place right now hehe
Which is very interesting, considering that Louise threw Mark under the bus to me for the exact same reason:sorry, i talked jen into voting will so that we can be the middlemen***
because now no one trusts Porsche or austin
cody's being all like "if they want marvin safe then i'll keep him safe too by nominating them"
so we're in beyond a good place right now hehe
Louise Cliffe (22:48:11): mark did campaign to me to evict marvin so he may have tried to play two sides???
Louise Cliffe (22:50:14): that does not sound very good of him
Louise Cliffe (22:50:39): he may have wanted to divide the house, partially
and
Louise Cliffe (22:57:40): i think i would definitely put up mark as i believe
Louise Cliffe (22:57:47): the way he treated you, it just sounds like he was misleading you
I'm sorry, but nobody is that nice. She would put up Mark for no reason other than that he misled me? Yeah, right. And when I talked to her about the Will vs Mark vote, she said she would do whatever I wanted (which she also said during the Amy vote and the Clay vote). But when I talked to Jen, she said Louise said the exact same thing to her, that she would do whatever Jen wanted.
I feel like I know Louise's MO. She plays herself off as cute and naive and like she wants nothing more than to do whatever's in your best interest. I don't believe for a second that she voted for Marvin because she "thought the house was leaning that way." I told her Austin was voting out Will, even though she played dumb later. I have a theory she knew exactly what she was doing and voted for Marvin and then campaigned to Jen to keep him in order to divide the house and isolate me and Austin and put herself in the middle. She's coming off as incredibly sugary and fake, and I'm not going to let her cutesy personality and hehes fool me.
Onto more recent concerns, I have not had a solid conversation with her in ages. It's all very surface level stuff. "Hi", "How are you?", we tell each other about our days, the conversation lasts for a little while longer and then dies off. I've tried to do a good job making Cody and Mark think I trust them and I think I've succeeded but I have been awful at being fake with Louise. It really concerns me, because I have no idea what she would do if she won HOH.
I just want to know what happened with my relationship with her. Was I just blind to her the whole time? Did something happen to make her not trust me? I can't think of what it would be. When Mark approached me for a bigger alliance, I told her about it. I didn't tell her about the David and Austin alliance, but she shouldn't know about that anyway.
Predicted Nominations: Can I take anything she says seriously? I'll go with me and Mark.
Cody: Cody is someone who is very hard to read. I have lots of lighthearted surface level chats with him and it's very difficult to actually talk game unless I'm the one to initiate it. However, I had a game talk with him and it went surprisingly well. He told me he doesn't trust Jen and gave me some reasons why and the reasons were pretty good. I'm not down for getting Jen out obviously, but I really do appreciate him coming to me about it.
So why is he last? I'm of two minds about him. First is that even if things go great, and two of Louise/Cody/Mark leave in the next two rounds, we'll be one round away from final 5 with one of them left and people like Jen and David are going to be itching to kill each other. It would be great if whoever is the last one standing from those three is on my side. Assuming that the next two weeks go my way, obviously. Who would I rather have close to the end? Mark, who I can't even have a simple game conversation with without him ratting me out? Louise, who I can't even have a conversation with, and who is shady as fuck? Or Cody, who I have an okay relationship with, even though neither of us trust each other?
However, I also have to look at it strategically. Just because Cody is good socially doesn't mean he isn't a threat. In fact, he's even more of a threat. The people I need out are Mark, Cody and Louise. Mark and Cody are all but a confirmed pair, and Cody and Louise are very, very close. If Cody goes, Mark and Louise are on their own, and the rest of the people in the game would target each other before they would come after me I think. It's not perfect, but if Cody goes, I think my positioning improves a lot.
Predicted Nominations: Jen and Austin
So I think I'm in an okay spot. I want Cody and Mark out but I feel like they would go after Jen and Austin first. I only have to really worry if Louise wins, but I would just use my veto. I'm studying for this competition because I really want to win HOH. The time for throwing is over. If someone like Austin or Jen or even David won that would be great because I would be safe and I'm sure at least one of my three targets would be on the block and I could try to get them evicted. But I can't just sit back and hope for the best. I want to make moves and get out people who are threats to my game. I don't trust my allies to not waste their HOH on each other or even on someone like Sarah. If Cody or Mark gets upset, so what. They clearly weren't on my side anyway.
