Hey, Sarah! Welcome to BB: Rise & Fall 13! Please answer these questions when you get the chance. Thank you for applying and we hope you have a great time.
1. This is the [un]lucky 13th season. What twists do you expect to happen?
2. How does not being allowed to use AIM, as of now, affect you and your strategy? Why do you think only posting on the boards and PMing is allowed?
3. Have you communicated with anyone yet? Who has made good first impressions, either through the board or PMs? Who has made bad impressions?
4. Did you enter the game with a set strategy? If so, (how) has it changed now that the game has officially begun and you've probably met some of the cast?
5. What kind of player would you consider yourself? (The hero, the villain, the socialite, the competitor, well-rounded, etc...?)
6. What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player?
7. What are your pet peeves in people? Are there any kind of players that just really grind your gears? Would you target them automatically or try to work past these differences?
8. (Why) do you think you have what it takes to win Big Brother: Rise & Fall 13?
9. Anything else you'd like to add before your journey for the victory begins?
Keep an eye out for this thread, because Staff may periodically pop in to ask questions or converse with you. Thank you and we wish you the best of luck this season!
1. This is the [un]lucky 13th season. What twists do you expect to happen?
Considering this first twist, PROBABLY ALL OF THE WORST ONES I CAN THINK OF?? I'm having nightmarish VISIONS already.
I'm picturing myself at the dreaded F5, happy and thinking I'm safe until 5 minutes before evictions are posted, and then suddenly getting tragically Bruno'd out. For real, though, I'm not particularly familiar with typical BB twists, since the only seasons I've truly paid attention to are the Canadian ones which are obviously rife with fan-influenced Twistos Twists™ (gotta keep that viewership up 'til you're established, y'all).
2. How does not being allowed to use AIM, as of now, affect you and your strategy? Why do you think only posting on the boards and PMing is allowed? It's actually kind of nice? With PMing I feel like there's a lot less pressure for instant responses and I don't feel as dorky sending long-ass messages. IN SAYING THAT, I am not sure how much these people are appreciating my essays, because most of them are not responding in kind. I HAVE A LOT OF THOUGHTS, OKAY??
As for why AIM is not allowed, I literally have no idea. I just sat here and stared at my screen for 3 minutes trying to come up with a witty answer, but I've got nothing. Sorry.
3. Have you communicated with anyone yet? Who has made good first impressions, either through the board or PMs? Who has made bad impressions? I've communicated with 10 of 13 people so far! Most everyone has been pretty good. Clay has made the worst impression on me based on board posts alone. His posts ANNOY me for some reason. I think my favourite person so far is probably Will because he really gives me things to ~work with~ and our conversation is a true ping pong match. I don't feel like I'm serving lines to a brick wall, which is great because that's my pet peeve in ORGs. I feel APPRECIATED by him. Jen and I have punny banter happening. I'm basically just trying to spin casual yarns about BB/Survivor/music with everyone and seeing where it gets me. At this point I'm just angling to avoid being first boot.
4. Did you enter the game with a set strategy? If so, (how) has it changed now that the game has officially begun and you've probably met some of the cast? Adaptability is the best strategy. At its core, Big Brother and Survivor are both heavily reliant on social prowess, and you need to be able to understand and adapt to the personalities and playstyles of the people around you. This phase of the game is important as far as learning about the way other people communicate and establishing what they do and don't respond to in terms of interaction. The rest of the game is applying that in order to build relationships to your advantage and utilize them for fun and profit.
5. What kind of player would you consider yourself? (The hero, the villain, the socialite, the competitor, well-rounded, etc...?)
I'm The Diamond. The Many-Faced Goddess. I am whatever you need me to be.
Really though, I think I am pretty well-rounded. My social ability is definitely still my strongest selling point, but I'm improved massively strategically since my early games, and I'm probably slightly above average in challenges. I'm generally a lot more of a heroine than a villainess and that is unlikely to change, although I am prone to bursts of OTTN hysteria!
6. What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player? My strengths are my social adaptability, my mastery of a magic spell that grants almost any conversation nine lives, even when the other person keeps letting it fall dead, and my ability to manoeuvre my way out of social and strategic dead ends. My weakness will always be my propensity to fall victim to my emotions, e.g. by getting too attached to other players and finding myself unable to make the moves I need to because of it. This isn't as much of a problem as it used to be for me, but it's been the nail in my coffin on more than one occasion. I also have trouble hiding my threat status and find it tough to stay UTR, which more often than not ends in me getting booted mid-merge or right before FTC.
7. What are your pet peeves in people? Are there any kind of players that just really grind your gears? Would you target them automatically or try to work past these differences?
Like I've said already, terrible conversationalists. Aside from that, people who are socially and strategically inflexible, people who can't take personal responsibility for their gameplay, and overly cutthroat players. I try my best with bad conversationalists and will attempt to work around a lack of flexibility, but I don't ever really expect much success. I won't automatically target people who fit into one or more of these categories, but I'm going to find it hard to work with them organically.
8. (Why) do you think you have what it takes to win Big Brother: Rise & Fall 13? Well, when it comes down to it, I'm really not half bad at these games. I don't know how wellmy Survivor ORG play will cross over to a BB ORG, but I have #faith in myself. I think I'm a veritable triple threat in these games. I just need to figure out how to best disguise that.
9. Anything else you'd like to add before your journey for the victory begins? Thank you so much for casting me!!!! I've heard so many good things about this series and I can't wait to play. I will try my best not to disappoint!
